Get Spiritual In Kent: Top Mediation Groups In The County

More people are becoming interested in spirituality and focusing on their inner selves, and so meditation is on the rise. Meditation can have so many different benefits on your health and mentality, so it’s no wonder that it’s becoming more popular.

The trouble is though that up until recently, meditation was something that most people had no idea about. So if you want to get into the habit of meditating but you’re not sure how, don’t panic, you’re not alone.

In fact, there are several groups and classes dedicated to meditation all around the county. Here are just a few of Kent’s best meditation groups.

Rochester Diamond Way Buddhist Group

When: Wednesdays, 7pm

Where: Friends Meeting House, Northgate, Rochester, ME1 1LS

This Buddhist group holds weekly meetings for guided meditation. This is a great way to get into meditation, and the best part is, all of their guided meditation sessions are free to attend!

If you’re new to meditation they offer an introduction to mediation so that you can learn a little more about it and its origins, and start to grasp the basics of how to meditate.

Bodhicharya Kent

When: Tuesdays, 8pm (except from the last Tuesday of every month)

Where: Quaker Meeting House, Northgate, Rochester, ME1 1LS

Bodhicharya is a popular association that helps people all over the world to learn more about Buddhism and meditation.

That’s not to say though that they don’t welcome those of other faiths. Bodhicharya Kent welcomes those from all walks of life. So whether you just want to learn a little more about Buddhism and meditation, or you want to actually learn how to meditate and apply Buddhist principles to your life, they’ll help you make the most of the sessions you attend.

If you’re completely new to meditation, they suggest you attend the first Tuesday of the month, as these sessions will be introductory sessions for newcomers.

If you want to really throw yourself into practising meditation, they also have monthly day retreats. These are a great opportunity to learn more about meditation and meet other, like-minded people.

Finding Balance On Meditation Day Trips

Buddhist Meditation Group In Canterbury

When: Wednesdays, 6:30pm

Where: Keynes College, University of Kent in Canterbury, (meet in the reception area)

Whilst this meditation group is held in the University, it’s open to everyone. So no matter your age, or meditation experience, you’ll be more than welcome.

Their meetings normally consist of silent sitting meditation (on the floor or on a chair, whichever you’d prefer), and informal discussion. They also often have talks and guided introductions to mediation, so you can learn about, as well as practice meditation.
