What’s On In Kent This Week?

We’re now well into December, and Christmas is just around the corner! But for those of you who’ve done all your Christmas shopping and have a few spare days, there are some wonderfully festive events this week in Kent.

A Dickens Of A Christmas

When: Tuesday 12th December, 2:30pm-4pm

Where: Church Farm Hall, Larkfield

Enjoy a traditional afternoon at Church Farm Hall, where there’ll be readings of some of Charles Dickens’ best works, and songs and carols to get you in the festive spirit. And don’t worry, there’ll be plenty of tea and cake on offer too, so even if you work up an appetite carol singing, you won’t go hungry!

100 Miles for 100 years

When: Wednesday 13th December, 11am-2pm

Where: Gravesend Borough Market

This is great event for those that want to discover more about Gravesend’s history. At this event you’ll see photographs and exhibitions that reveal more about Gravesend during the First World War, you’ll even learn about specific Gravesend locals, and their involvement in the war.

A Victorian Christmas At Chiddingstone Castle

When: Monday 11th – Friday 15th December

Where: Chiddingstone Castle

Another traditional event, Chiddingstone Castle will be throwing itself back in time, and creating a Victorian Christmas setting for you to explore. If you’ve got little ones, they’ll also have the chance to meet Father Christmas, so it should be a fun day out for the whole family.

Christmas Crib Festival

When: Thursday 14th –  Sunday 17th December, 10am-4pm

Where: St John the Baptist Church, Wittersham

This fun Christmas festival will have different perks each day that it’s open, but you can expect to have fun filling the church with cribs of all sorts, or if you don’t have a crib to contribute, you can simply enjoy the range of cribs on display.

There will also be stalls, games for the children, refreshments, gifts and crafts to buy and even bands and carol singers to keep you entertained.

Create a Christmas Arrangement

When: Friday 15th December

Where: Maidstone museum

For any budding florists out there, this is the perfect event in the run up to Christmas. You’ll be taught how to make a truly stunning Christmas Arrangement that you can use to decorate your home, and the best part is, all of the materials will be provided!

Enchanted Lantern Festival

When: Friday 15th – Monday 18th December, 5-8pm

Where: Walmer Castle and Gardens

This is a truly magical evening out, for children and adults alike. Not only can you enjoy the show of lantern lights, but you’ll also have the chance to make your own lantern that can then be part of the display. And of course the evening wouldn’t be complete without refreshments, so you can finish the evening with a hot drink of your choice, in the beautiful castle.
