What’s On In Kent This Week?

With half term over, it’s back to reality for many. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t plenty on this week to keep you and your family entertained! Here’s what’s on in Kent this week.

International Garden Photographer of the Year

Where: Sissinghurst Castle Garden

With Spring just around the corner, plants are starting to bloom. So naturally, amateur and professional photographers alike are starting to venture outside with their cameras to capture all the natural beauty.

If you fancy admiring some of the best garden photography from around the world, head to Sissinghurst Castle Gardens. This photography exhibition will feature a whole range of photos. Categories include Beauty of Plants, Wildlife in the Garden, and Wildflower Landscapes. You might even get some inspiration for your own photos if you fancy yourself a budding photographer.

Charity Quiz Night

Where: Moody Mare, Seven Mile Lane, Mereworth

Everyone loves a quiz, and by partaking in this one, you’ll be doing your bit for charity whilst also having a great time with your family or friends. This quiz is being organised by the Heart of Kent Hospice, so it’s all for a good cause!

The Ash Archive: Kent’s Special Relationship With The Ash Tree

When: Monday 19th February – Friday 23rd February 2018
Where: Jarman Building, University of Kent

The Canterbury Campus of the University of Kent is hosting an interesting exhibition this week. The Ash Archive will display objects, artwork, literary pieces, and drawings by both local and national artists.

All of the works displayed were created with the Ash Tree in mind. It’s not uncommon for people to feel connections with the natural world, but many have felt deep connections with the Ash Tree. So this exhibition celebrates our relationship with the natural world, and aims to reflect on the uncertain future of the Ash Tree.

Volunteering is a great way to get out and about, meet new people, and do your bit for the community. So if it’s something you’re interested in, why not volunteer at Bore Place this Thursday?

You’ll team up with other like-minded volunteers, to repair and maintain the walking trails. And in exchange for your time and efforts, you can tuck into tea and biscuits afterwards!
