If you’re fed up with feeling under the weather or tired, it can pay to pay a little attention to your health. Looking after yourself isn’t just about making you feel better in your mind, but it will also help you stay motivated, focused when it comes to important tasks, and it will boost your energy levels.
So here are some easy habits you can incorporate into your everyday routine, to help you feel healthier.
1: Drink more water
If you don’t get enough water during the day, you’re going to feel tired, unable to concentrate, and you might even get headaches which will completely ruin your day.
Drinking enough water is key to staying healthy and feeling healthy. Try and aim for eight glasses a day and you should start to notice a different in your health – your body as well as your mind need water to function.
2: Get out and about when you can
Fresh air can wake you up if you’re feeling tired, and can also help you sleep better when it comes to bedtime.
Being outside can also help reduce stress and improve your mood. Plus, it’s a good excuse to get out of the office every now and then.
3: Make sure you get enough sleep
Not getting enough sleep is going to mess with your overall health, and make you feel tired and unable to concentrate throughout the day.
Set yourself a strict bedtime that will give you a good 8-10 hours of sleep each night, and you’ll start to feel healthier within days. There are apps and devices that can help you plan and track your sleep if this makes it easier. iPhones now have a ‘bedtime’ section of their clock application.
4: Take a break from screens
Screens can interfere with your sleep, the blue light messing with our body clocks, so if you’re using screens all day, it’s a good idea to take a break every now and then.
If you sit at a screen this is also not great for your health, as you’re likely to slump over a desk and ruin your posture, which can lead to other health issues entirely. Stand up and go for a walk once in a while, even if it’s just to make a coffee. You’ll get the blood flowing, and you might even find yourself more able to concentrate when you come back.
5: Meditate
More people are becoming open to the idea of meditation, and that’s because it really does make a difference.
It’s the perfect way to take a break from the stress of everyday life, and it has more health benefits than you probably realised. From lowering your blood pressure, to reducing anxiety, stress and even physical pain, it’s definitely worth doing.
Don’t worry, you don’t have to meditate for hours on end to feel the benefits, in fact, just 10 minutes a day should do it.
