What’s On In Kent This Week?

The October half term is finally here, so you can expect to see lots of fun family events going on around the county. And with Halloween only a week away, horror fans will be pleased to hear that Kent’s events are getting spookier by the minute.

So, what’s on this week in Kent?

Half Term Fun At Port Lympne and Howletts

When: 23rd-28th October

Where: Port Lympne and Howletts

To celebrate it being half term this week, Port Lympne and Howletts are hosting pumpkin carving sessions and other fun (and sometimes spooky) activities. There are prizes to be won, crafts to be made, and trails to explore, so it’s the perfect family day out this half term.

Pumpkin Carving at Bettleshanger Park

When: 23rd-29th October

Where: Bettleshanger Park

Carving pumpkins to give them scary or funny faces is a well-loved tradition by children and adults alike. The only trouble with it though is that it can get quite messy, and it can be a nightmare to clean up after.

If you fancy having all the fun of pumpkin carving, but without it affecting your kitchen in the slightest, head to Bettleshanger Park’s pumpkin carving event. You don’t need to book, you can just turn up any time between 11am and 3pm. They’ll even help you think of design ideas for your pumpkin.

Messy Pumpkin Carving

Pompomkins at Dreamland

When: 26th October, 11am-6pm

Where: Dreamland, Margate

Dreamland is hosting a half term event where kids can get a bit artsy by making pompom creatures or pumpkins from wool. The Gruffalo will also be making a special appearance.

Dover Castle’s Drive-In Horror Cinema

When: 26th-29th October

Where: Dover Castle

Castles have always been the perfect gothic setting, and this week you can watch your favourite scary movies in the grounds of Dover Castle!

The ‘Spooky Tunnels Cinema’ will be showing classic horror films, including The Shining, The Woman in Black and Dracula. It’s a drive in cinema, so you don’t even have to get out of the car to watch!

Witchcraft and Wizarding Fun at Chiddingstone Castle

When: 26th-28th October

Where: Chiddingstone Castle

This is the perfect event for any Harry Potter fans, or aspiring wizards or magicians. You can learn how to fly a broomstick, make potions, cast spells, and all with the help of theatrical performers.
